Dubai’s Omooma raises $2.5M in funding

 

Omooma, a UAE-based online maternity content producer and provider, has secured $2.5M in funding from E20 Investment LTD.  The Omooma platform offers access to a stream of at-your-pace learning on motherhood-related courses that offer experts’ advice and information on a multitude of concerns and questions, from the first menstrual cycle to parenthood to menopause and everything in between.  Platform’s educational content will equip Arab women with the knowledge and information they need throughout their motherhood journey, from the comfort and privacy of their home.

The Healthcare industry across EVMs aggregated over $140M across 40+ deals in H1’22, as seen in our FREE State of Startup Funding – H1 2022 Emerging Venture Markets Report. After experiencing a spike in the number of transactions fueled by the pandemic, the industry has recorded a dip in the number of deals this year though an increase of over 200% in funding has been recorded as compared to H1 last year. The highest funding round by a healthcare startup across EVMs was recorded by UAE-based Altibbi, offering telemedicine consultation services. The startup raised a stellar $44M in its Series B round. The healthcare industry across EVMs is working to revolutionize this spcae to make it more tech savvy. This year, sizable funds have been raised by HealthTech startups based in Africa and Pakistan including the likes of Karachi-based MEDZnMORE,Ghana-based mPharmaand Mauritius-based africure pharmaceuticals, committed to improving the African healthcare system.

Content from the Omooma platform can be consumed at the user’s convenience and pace in complete privacy or together with trusted family members or friends to encourage insightful discussions. The startup’s roster of experts includes Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Endocrinologist, Paediatrics, Paediatric Dentist, Dermatologist, Lactation consultant, Psychomotor, Nutritionist, Psychologist, Midwives, Doula, Music Doctor, Sleep consultant, Physiotherapist, Financial advisors, Yoga teacher, Beautician and Fashion consultant. “Omooma isn’t only relevant to pregnant women or young mothers. It is also appealing to parents of teenagers who want to understand the changes to their children’s bodies. It will also feature parenting courses not just for babies but also for bigger kids, young adults and so on. The startup plans to offer its high-quality motherhood video courses for use by hospitals, clinics and medical practitioners as well as companies and organisations who want to add value to their female patients or employees.
